WORK AT ELLERSLIE. MERRY DAMON" AND SUNNY SKY. There was,not a great deal of -fast work at Ellerslie this morning." The majority of the horses engaged at the Takapuna meeting have all done a fair amount of racing, recently, and are well forward, and , therefore it is merely a matter of keeping their present condition right. The course, proper, with the poles 25 feet out, No. 3 grass and tan were used. On the course proper Deputy Ruler was timed to run half a mile in 51 2-ss. He galloped impressively. "VVee Pat and Kilmuir completed six furlongs in 1.19 1-5, the former finishing in front. The Takapuna Cup candidates, Merry Damon and Sunny Sky were allotted a seven furlongs task. They ran the first half mile in 53 2-ss, an<l reached the end of the 6even furlongs in 1.33 1-5. Sunny Sky, who had the outside running, was doing the tetter of the pair at the finish. Marchette, after taking 26 2-5s for her first two furlongs, galloped five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, going easily.
No. 3 Grass. Brampton and Angie were given an easy half mile, which occupied 555. Golden Spahi beat United by several lengths after Railoping e ix furlongs in 1.18. The first three furlongs took 37 2-ss. KarangnPai, who carried a good weight, reeled off lialf a mile in 51 2-ss. Tahae Mea and Zane Grey were sent six furlongs, running the distance in 1.22 4-5. The Polazel filly in G. Holland's stable accompanied them over the first three furlongs, -which took 38 3-ss. Roman Mascot and Glenhaupo were on' terms at the conclusion of E ix furlongs which occupied 1.17 4-5, the firet three taking 37 3-ss. Over a similar distance Court Haven registered 1.21. N T otamint sprinted three furlongs in 38 3-ss, and Kiltowyn, going easily, recorded 53 l-5s for half a mile.
Tan Track. Ruling King and Marching Song strode over a round'in 2.2 1-5, with little between them at the finish. The two-year-old. Soloman, w«s in front of Darma at the end of half a mile which took 53 4-ss.' Psychologist also did strong work but was not timed., After beginning slowly Chief Cook and. Landlubber covered five furlongs in 1.19 1-5, the final half mile taking i'3s. Chief Cook pleased most. Schizanthus ivas given an easy six furlongs, running the distance in 1.26- 2-5, and Demylus covered a round in 2.0 3-5.
