TAR - SEALING.

BOMBAY DEVIATION.

SOUTH SECTION CLOSED.

WORK TO LAST FIVE WEEKS.

Tar-sealing on the Bombay deviation, between Bombay and Poke no, started this morning. The southern part of the deviation from the Pokeno township to [the inter-section with the Great South .Road will be closed, but the middle [section will-still be open, and there will be no need for motorists to use the ißazorbacks. It is estimated that the | whole of the deviation will be sealed and I ready for traffic in live weeks. The signs patrol of the Auckland Automobile Association left town at six o'clock this morning to erect signs at each end of the closed section, advising i traffic to travel via Pokeno. The alternative route, while the section is closed, will make little difference to the' distance covered, and vehicles travelling to or from Thames will be those most affected. The detour route is in failcondition. Two northern sections of the deviation, from the Bombay Hills to the Great South Road inter-section on the Pokeno Hill, will remain open until the southern section has been tar-sealed. The middle section, from the Pokeno Hill to the Bombay-Pokeno Road, will be the. next stretch closed, probably before the opening of the southern section. Later workmen will be engaged on the most northerly section, which will be the last to be reopened. While the work is being done, the Auckland Automobile Association will erect appropriate signs advising drivers which sections of the deviation ar§ available for use. When the work is nearing completion, the two northern parts will be closed for a few days at the same time. It will be necessary then for motorists to take the old Razorback Hills road, which is in fair condition. I
