TAKEN IN JUNGLE.
INDIAN SOLDIER'S CRIME. (Received 1 p.m.) CALCUTTA, January 5. Jang Singh, a native soldier, who shot an Englishman named Thompson on January 1, was arrested in the jungle after several hours of sniping at a detachment of soldiers. The police have now disclosed the. fact that the attack on Thompson was the outcome of discontent over the disbandment of Indian pioneer units, under which many Sikhs of lower social standin" were transferred to the Bombay Sappers, of which Singh was a noncommissioned officer.
