RACECOURSE ARREST.
JOCKEY IN CUTODY. HELD ON VAGRANCY CHARGE. Described on the charge sheet in the Police Court this morning as a jockey Norman Davis, aged 34, appeared on a charge deeming him to be an idle and disorderly perron, with insufficient law fill means of support. Mr. K. C:. Ackins, who represented Davis, said he understood the police were applying for a remand. "Yes." said Detective-Sergeant Ke> y. "Davis was arrested on the racecourse at Ellerslie yesterday. There are other inquiries, which may lead to furtnei charges being preferred." ' Counsel .said Davis had over £- " his possession, and yet he was charged with being without means. . ,'\ "LawfuL means," said the magistrate, in remanding Davis until January 9.
