CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT.
LANCASTER WINS FINAL. The final- of the Auckland Bowling Centre's Christmas tournament was won on Saturday afternoon by Lancaster's Carlton rink, who defeated Robertson's Onehunga four, by 22 to 14. A sharp shower of rain which came just after the somi-finals threatened to stop any further play, but during the luncheon adjournment the green recovered, and there was bright sunshine during most of the afternoon, although the rain had made a change in the green that did not at all suit those with light bowls. The' opposing teams were.—T. Sampson, J. A. Bird, J. Torrance, W. A. Lancaster (Carlton), and J. Macklow, A. E. Sayers, F. Livingstone, H. A. Robertson (Onehunga). - The dominating feature of the final was the remarkable faculty of the Carlton skip to save the situation when it went against ,him, and he was well supported by the other three members of his team. Neither Livingstone nor Robertson achieved the success with their drives and runs that had carried them so well through the earlier rounds.
