BIRKENHEAD LIGHTING.
BACK TO NORMAL SOON. MAYOR'S ANNOUNCEMENT. The dismal appearance at night of many Birkenhead thoroughfares, consequent on the reduction of the street lights from 128 to 40, has not been appreciated by residents, and letters of protest were read at the meeting of the Borough Council last evening from the ex-Servicemen's Association and the Birkdale Ratepayers' Association.
"The lights will be on again shortly," announced the Mayor, Mr. George Mills. "We have got the reduction thccoyncil sought. The saving will be £12.> instead of £105."
Mr. A. G. Jasper: Will that saving be effected with the lights turned on again ? The Mayor: Yes.
