BAKERS' AWARD.
FORMER BASIS ADOPTED.
TEN PER CENT CUT IN WAGES.

GISJJORNE, this day, A complete agreement wae reached in the conciliation council proceedings in connection with the bakery trade in Gjsborne, this being the first award in that industry ii} the North Island in which results have proved satisfactory to both paftjes. The basis of agreement was the adoption of the terms of the old award with the principal exception that a reduction of 10 per rent in wages is Tile new rate* Afte £5 for foremen fiakcr?, £4 10/ for journeymen, ahd 17/ pir eight-hour day for jobbers, or not leps than 2/3 per hour for less th4n eight hours. Overtime is at the fj»te of time and a quarter for the first two hours, time and a half for the second two hoUrg, and double time thereafter, with time and a hi!f on holidays and 6d an hour additional fo.work before 4 a.m. on ordinary working d«ys.
Provision is also made for the employment of females in bakeries at three-quarters of the rates for journeymen.
