LEAGUE OF PENWOMEN.

A large number of members and friends attended a breaking-up party held by the League of Penwomen in the league rooms last evening. Bright scarlet gladioli, geraniums and hoops of asparagus fern, fastened with wide scarlet paper bows, gave a festive appearance to the decorations. The president, Mrs. 11. Carr Rollett, received the guests. Mrs. Arthur Griffiths gave an excellent reading entitled "Story of the Yuletide Bells," which preceded a number of Christmas carols, sung by the members. Miss Ida Walker was the leader. An. outstanding programme of excellent musical and vodal items were rendered by Miss Winthrop, Mrs. Jean Boswell, Mrs. Arthur Griffiths, Mrs. Ernest Richards, Miss Ida Walker and Mrs. Hewson, who acted as accompanist. A buffet supper was wheeled into the centre of the room, the large iced and lighted Christmas cake taking its place of honour in the middle of the season's delicacies.
