BOXING.
TECHKICAI COLLEGE FINALS. THE ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Twenty-three bouts in the 6emJ-flna]g and finals of the Seddon Memorial Technical College annual championship tourney were staged at the Assembly Hall on Saturday night. A ring lent by the Northern Boxing Association was erected in the school hall and arrangements were well catered for by the school's physical culture instructor, Mr. H. P. Leeves. The attendance of both pupils and parents was not encouraging, but the programme proved a big success. An interesting exhibition between Ivan Hogg and B. Hogg was much appreciated by the boys.
At the conclusion of the programme Mr. Leevee thanked the Northern Boxing Association for Its help. Representing the Boxing Association, Mr. R. Rugg congratulated the boys on their excellent performances nnd their continuous use of the straight left. The referee was Mr. N. McLean! and the time-keepers Messrs. W. Harper and J. Haffcy. Results: — Mosquito-weight.—Semi-finals : Matthews (5.10) beat Spear (5.8) ; W. Stewart (5.2) bent J. Stewart (4.10). Final: Matthews beat Stewart. Midget-weight.—Semi-finals : Lund (6.7) beat Bassett (0.7) ; Thomas (6.7) beat Newton (6.7), in the lirst round. Final: Lund beat Thomas. Paper-weight.—Semi-finals : Clark (7.0) beat Negus (7.0) : Shilling (7.0) bent Fuller (7.0). Final: Clark beat Shilling. Flyweight.—Semi-final: Bowrcy (7.8) beat Kerr (7.7) ; Chateriss (7.7) won by default from F. Bear. Final: Bowrey beat C'hateriss. Bantam-weight. — Semi-finals: Bundock (8.2) beat J. Gedtlls (8.2) ; R. Geddls (8.2) beat Fetley (8.1). Final: Bundock beat Geddis. Feather-weight.—Semi-finals : Cowan (0.0) bent Hiseock (8.11) ; Grognn (0.0) beat Green (8.10). Final: Cowan beat Grogan. Lightweight.—Semi-finals : O. Stevens (0.0) won by default: O'Dowd (10.0) beat Pickering (10.0). Final: Stevens beat O'Dowd. Welter-weight.—Final: E. Flyger (10.7) beat Borich (10.2). Heavy-weight—Final: Hosier (13.5) beat R. Brown -(11.8).

INVERCARGILL, this day. In a professional boxing contest on Saturday night Tom Croft (West Coast), 11.6, knocked out George Mcßwan (Invercargill), 11.6, middle-weight champion of New Zealand, In the tenth round. Croft won evpry round, but was repeatedly warned for low punching. The bout was not for the title.
