MINING.
OKARITO WASH-UP. The Okarito Five-Mile Beach Gold Dredging Company, Limited, which is operating in South Westiand, reports a wash-up of 270z lOdwt for 1141 hours' dredging. AUSTRALIAN PRICE OF GOLD. The price fixed by the Commonwealth Bank for gold, including jewellery, lodged at the Melbourne Mint, for the week ended November 18, was at the rate of approximately £7 1/10 a standard ounce (22 carats), iqual to a premium of 82.10 per cent. Payment is made according to the assay value of the gold. The price is lid higher on the week. The price an ounce fine is £7 14/8, a rise of lid on the week. The Commonwealth Bank's price for sovereigns, at head office, Sydney, is unchanged at 34/6. GOLD MINING COMPANIES. For the year to date there have been 33 gold mining concerns formed in NewZealand, the nominal capital involved in the ventures totalling £499,274. Twenty of these companies were formed in Auckland. with an aggregate capital of £205,274. Most of the claims of the new companies are in OtagO, the West Coast and Thames and Coromandel districts. Last year 15 gold mining companies, representing an aggregate total nominal capital of £284,450, were registered in the Dominion.
TALISMAN DUBBO. Mine Manager's Report.—During the week work was continued at timbering and cleaning up the fall in the Dubbo level. About six tons of ore was paddocked and 5s fair grade ore.
