COMMUNITY SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the ladies' auxiliary was held at Sunshine House, Nelson Street, on Thursday. The president, Mrs. W. S. Pratt, occupied the chair. It was reported that ladies were now selling the health stamps at the G.P.O. for health camps and were meeting with a ready response. All members who have any spare time were asked to help in this work. A shop is now open in Newmarket under Mrs. Nielsen's direction. There are many useful articles for sale, made, by the boys and girls at their evening classes. Mrs. Cooper reported a jumble sale was being held, and clothing was wanted to enable peopie in poor circumstances to procure necessary garments at a low figure. The auxiliary is endeavouring to raise £100 before Christmas to help the association with the health camps at Motuihi and Waiheke. It was stated that the Arnoldson Home at Ostend is ready for occupation, and Mesdames Williamson and Longville were thanked for their strenuous efforts in having this camp in excellent order. Sunshine School will be closing on December 10. Two pupils who have attended since the opening of the school have gained their proficiency examination. They are leaving greatly improved in health. The tennis court has been prepared and is now ready for use.
The Johnnie Mitebox scheme is well advanced and it is hoped that all boxes will be distributed before the end of the year. Mrs. A. J. Stallwortliy spoke on the value of the practical work being done for the children in the Sunshine School.
Mr. Denis Sheard sang and Mrs. Neal accompanied. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Isaacs and Arnoldson.
