PRESENTATION.
MISS AVERILL HONOURED.
A pleasing gathering took place this morning at the home of Mrs. T. Russell, Judge's Bay Road, Parnell, when in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Winifred Averill a morning tea was held. It was organised by the wives of the clergy, of which committee, Mother Hannah was chairman. On arrival Miss Averill, who was wearing nigger brown crepe de chine and a brown straw hat with a wide brim, was welcomed by Mrs. Russell, gowned in coffeo crepe de chine, and a presentation was made to her of a cheque, accompanied by a beautiful bouquet of p.ink and mauve stocks. The presentation was made on behalf of the women of the diocese, and Mrs. Russell spoke of the great esteem in which Miss Averill is held, not only within her own church, but throughout Auckland. Reference was made to the splendid work she has done in the church. Mrs. Russell expressed the hope that Miss Averill would, as the wife of a clergyman, continue this line work and wished her all happiness in her future life. Mother Hannah also spoke and stressed the splendid work within the church which Miss Averill had accomplished. She also moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. George Coats, who had organised the function. It was stated that letters had been received from all over the city expressing gladness at contributing to the present and wishing Miss Averill every happiness in the future. After the presentation tea was served in the drawing room, which was delightfully decorated with pink sweet peas.
