FINAL DAY AT SHORE.

exaggeration wins sprint.

delrain scores in vauxhall.

thespis home in kawau high-weight.

The weather is dull for the second day of the Takapuna Jockey Club's spring meeting at Devonport, where the track has been freshened by showers during the week-end. There is quite a good attendance for an off day.

Delrain, who carried most money, and the little-fancied Top Light paid the dividends in the Vauxhall Handicap.

Another favourite in Thespis led the way home in the Kawau High-weight in which the minor places were filled by G,lenJjaupo and Royal Visitor.

Valpai, at a good price, defeated the favourite (MerryLap) and Currajong in the Stanley Hack.

In the smallest field at the meeting, Exaggeration was first past the judge in the Cautley Handicap (open sprint) from Tradesman and Lucidus.

FAVOURITE PREVAILS. BLANDFORD UNPLACED. TOP LIGHT A GOOD DIVIDEND. The programme opened with the Vauxhall Handicap, the defections being Holly Lu, Foulwind, Eldora, Kahau, Muskon, and The Pullet. Delrain (£387) got most support, with Blandford (£209) and Mungatoon (£191) also in demand. The second horse, Top Light, carried only £25 10/ and paid nearly double figures. Princess Star, Roman Mascot, Delrain, Prince Colossus, Blandford, and Lady Carrington were prominent early, and across the top the order was Princess Star, Delrain, and Roman Mascot, and then came Prince Colossus, Blandford, and Mungatoon. The order was much the game entering the straight, where Roman Mascot dropped back, and Mungatoon and Top Light moved up, but Delrain lasted long enough to beat Top Li"ht by three-quarters of a length, with Mungatoon a neck away. Princess Star was fourth, with Roman Mascot and Blandford on terms next, and then came Directory, Lady Carrington, and Prince Colossus. During the race Operatic was bumped by another horse, being rendered temporarily lame, and his rider pulled him up. Another Favourite Wins. Royal Survey and Catch 'Em were not saddled up for the Kawau Highweight, and Thespis (£538) was an odds on favourite, with Royal Visitor (£340 ) and Nassock (£226) also well fancied. Passing the stand Principal and Royal England were on terms, with Thespis, Sub-Editor, Royal Visitor and Sleepy Sol next, then came Glenhaupo, Nassock and Full Measure. Glenhaupo ran up into third place along the back, the order of the others being unchanged, but Thespis and Glenhaupo were racing abreast crossing the top, with SubEditor, Royal Visitor, Principal and Sleepy Sol following. Royal Visitor moved up entering the straight, but oyer the final furlong Thespis held on best and got the verdict by a length and a half from Glenhaupo, who beat Royal Visitor by three lengths. Sub-Editor was fourth, followed by Nassock, Full Measure, Sleepy Sol, Royal England and Principal.
