Gandhi Must Dissociate from
Civil Disobedience.
STANDS COMMITTED
CALCUTTA, November 25.
It is authoritatively stated that there is no truth in rumours that Sir Samuel Hoare, Secretary of State for India, has agreed to Gandhi's release from prison.
The Viceroy, the Earl of Willingdon, has made it clear that Gandhi can secure his release only by dissociating himself from the civil disobedience movement. It is understood that Gandhi has informed the Government that he stands committed to disobedience, both as an article of faith and as a political weapon, till the Government concedes fully the demands of the Indian National Congress.
