The weight of this coin' is half an ounce, whjlst the present penny weighs exactly one-third of an ounce. The second rubbing is made from a French ten centimes piece, and is also valued at id.

There was no penny piece issued in 1723, but the halfpenny of that time was larger than the present coin, and this probably caused you to think it was a penny.
