WHANGAREI RACES.

ALLOY TAKES CUP. ELDORA'S SPRING PLATE. HIKURANGI HACK TO DELRAIN. WHANGAREI, this day. The Wliangarei Racing Club's spring meeting opened in fine weather at Kensington Park before a fair attendance. The course is in tip-top order.

Proceedings opened with the Spring I Plate, for which Blandford, Top Star, Wishbone, Lady Noreen, Lady Winifred, Laudatory and Wliarepuke failed to parade. The Pantheon filly, Eldora, was installed favourite with £158, the next best supported being Echo Song ( £84) and Master Musk ( £68). Sister Em and Eldora were smartest away from Echo Song, Master Musk, On Approval and Grand Tonic. Entering the top stretch Eldora had assumed charge from Echo Song, Master Musk, On Approval, Grand Tonic and Miss Rewa. There was no change in positions at the turn for home, and Eldora went on to win by a length and a half from Echo Song, who beat Mastej Musk by two and a half lengths. On Approval was fourth and then came: Miss Rewa, Grand Tonic, Royal Potoa, Kind Words, Monanui and Bright Flower. Disappointing Field. Only three lined up out of a possible eleven for the Hikurangi Hack, and the public made Delrain a very warm favourite from Royal Gallant and Lady Vane. The last-named was out first, but Delrain soon got on terms with her. Along the top Delrain was well clear, and went on to win easily by two lengths from Lady Vane, with" Royal Gallant three-quarters of a length further away. Over the Battens. Prince of Orange was the only withdrawal from the Huanui Hack Hurdles. Patutalii, with £219, had a distinct call in the betting over Motere (£122), Neil (£110) and Imperial Prince- (£9l). Cat-i----mes and Imperial Prince were the quickest to begin, and passing the stand this pair had charge from Patutalii, Snow Prince, Neil, Sleepy Sol and Arch Eagle. Along the back Imperial Prince made a faulty jump, and Patutalii got on terms with him, and subsequently led along the top from Imperial Prince, Cat-i-mes, Neil and Snow Prince. The order into the straight was much the same, and in the run home Patutahi prevailed by two lengths and a half from Imperial Prince, with Neil four lengths further away, third. Snow Prince was fourth, and then came Cat-i-mes, Abbey Dream, Sleepy Sol, Motere and Arch Eagle. Results: —• SPRING PLATE of SOsovs. Six furlongs.
