MUTINY TALK.

AUSTRALIAN UNREST.

Naval Ratings Dissatisfied With Pay. READJUSTMENTS MADE. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The naval ratings ashore on leave met outside the railway station and discussed the question of refusing duty. Some militants decided not to rejoin their ships, while others resolved to return but to refuse duty this morning unless they were assured they would not be "intimidated" when the ships put to sea. It appears that the trouble amongst the sailors is due to resentment at the reductions of pay under the Financial Emergency Act. Officials late last night admitted that the position was obscure, but were confident that the good sense of the men would prevail. A Canberra. message says that readjustments of naval pay and conditions were decided upon, including increases in travelling allowances for the men between ships and their homes when on leave, increase of the allowance in lieu of rations during leave, and an increaee

in child endowment to the same rate payable to the public service.
