ENGLAND 634 FOR 9. Jardine Unbeaten and Larwood Exhilarating. HOME SIDE OPENS BRIGHTLY. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) ADELAIDE, November 6. The cricket match England v. South Australia was continued yesterday at Adelaide on a perfect wicket. There were 25,000 spectators.

When β-tumpe were drawn on Friday the Englishmen had scored 341 for five wickets in their first innings, Jardine (6) and Verity (3) being the not out men. They resumed their innings and at the tea adjournment, with the score at 634 for nine wickets, Jardine declared. South Australia had made 145 for two wickets when stumpe were drawn.

When Jardine and Verity continued batting the English captain was not to be restrained. He wa,3 in 217 minutes and carried his bat for 108.

Wyatt gave a chancelesg display, his 61 including seven fours. His worst ordeal was facing Grimmett.

Wyatt and Jardine made a seventh wicket record for England-South Australia matches, and Jardine and Larwood broke the existing eighth wicket record of 10G, which had stood for 35 years. Larwood gave an exhilarating display, making 81 in 41 minutee. With high drives and pulls he scored 50 in 27 minutee. Finally he was caught. Brown also was responsible for hurricane hitting. ' Twice he hit balls from Richardson out of the ground. He made 27 in seven minutes. •

The opening batsmen for the local side batted confidently against the formidable attack. Richardson and Nitschke showed no fear of Larwood, Bowes, Verity and Hammond, who bowled successively. Clean, forceful hitting produced 50 in the first half-hour of South Australia's innings, and 100 in 65 minutes.

Richardson played a typical captain's innings and was unconquered with 72 when 6tumps were drawn. He had given one hard chance at 58.

Victoria yesterday the visitors carried their- first innings score from 306 runs for six wickets to 408 (Ponsford 200, Fleetwood-Smith 38). O'Reilly took five wickets for 81 runs, Hird three for 115 and Bradman one for 8.

New South Wales in their first innings made 358 for four wickets (Bradman 238, Kippax 52, McCabe 36 not out, Wendell Bill 19, Fingleton 6). Fleetwood-Smith took two wickets for 110 runs, Alexander two for 66.
