A WORD TO BEGINNERS.
HINTS ON DIVING.
For beginners the first thing to remember is that it is the easiest thing in the world to enter the water head first. Confidence is half the battle.
At first keep your eyes on the spot where you will enter the water, fall forward, push off, and at the last minute throw your legs up, stiffening the knees as soon as possible.
Try this from a height of about two or three feet, because if you are too near the level of the water it is difficult to avoid going flat.
If you find learning to dive difficult get a friend to crouch beside you and as you fall forward let him knock your legs upward a little. You should be able to master a simple, straightforward dive in a very short time.
