CONDITIONS IN POLAND. (Received 2 p.m.) WARSAW, October 31. Powers, approximating to martial law, taken by the Government, will compel male and female tax collectors to search defaulters of either sex in their houses or in the streets, and to confiscate their cash and jewellery. Employees of a textile mill at Soenowice are prosecuting a hunger strike. They refused to leave the premises in tlie hope of securing the restoration of wages. Several women were removed in an emaciated condition.
