NORTH AUCKLAND FIRE.

HOUSE AND POST OFFICE LOST,

MARSDEN POINT OUTBREAK.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WHANGAREI, this day.

Fire totally destroyed a ten-roomed house occupied by Mr. .T. F. Munro at Marsden Point on Friday afternoon. Only a few email articles were saved from tlie lire.

Mrs. Munro and a girl who is working for her were the only occupants of the house on Friday, and tliey were washing. About one o'clock Mrs. Munro went to the back of the house and discovered it was in flames.

Although aid was forthcoming, the flames burned so furiously that the building was a total loss. Books valued at over £100 were burnt.

Mr. and Mrs. Munro are in charge of the post office at Marsden Point, and this, too, was destroyed. No postal valuables were lost. Mr. Munro had no insurance over the furniture and effects in the house except £40 on a piano, and he is a heavy loser. The insurance on the house is not known.
