BOXING.

HUGHES-OXLEY BOUT TO-NIGHT. Ted Oxley, the clever, hard-punching Pahiatua light-weight, will have his first tilt at the New Zealand championship at the Town Hall to-night, and Archie Hughes, the New Zealand light-weight champion, will have to step lively to avoid the onslaughts of his challenger. As in all title contests the bout is scheduled for 15 rounds. Oxley's punching power makes him formidable, and Hughes will need to bo at the very peak of his form. The champion, however, is a fast and clever little boxer, who also knows how to mix it, and, with first-hand knowledge of Oxley's punching he is not likely to be neglectful. It should be a great fight, and spectators should see some hard, honest battling and clever boxing in the deciding of the championship. A fine supporting programme has been arranged.
