THE AUCKLAND MEETING CONCLUDING DAY'S CARD. DIRECT MORNING AGAIN. SURPRISE IN SPRINT. The. Auckland Trotting Club brought the spring meeting to a ciose on Satxirday Again the weather conditions were unfavourable, and on account of rain the first race was put back Half an hour The attendance was estimated at about 7000 and though there were occasional showers during the afternoon the racmg nroved most enjoyable. Two surprises were recorded, the first when Margaret Wallace scored a rather lucky win m the Junction Handicap and the second when Brent Zolock outclassed the field „ the fast sprint. Direct Morning won the Labour Day Handicap,, making his £19,883 5/, compared with £23.823 10/ on the second da? last year, Labour Day, a decrease «f «Q4O 5/i or 10 per,cent. Investments fm- the two days totalled £37,833 5/, aaainst £43,043 10/, a decrease of £5210 5/, or 12 per cent. Public on the Mark. Fisher and R-egina Derby did not parade for the Canipbell Handicap, llie betting order was: Wee Machine (£<2Z), Lady Amanda (£385), and Stormy Mack (£2SO). Mazda began best, and led from Stormy Mack, Pedlar and Wee Machine. Going alonjr in front of the stand Stormv Mack had taken charge, and was piloting Mazda, Historian and Pedlar, with a gap to Wee Machine, Lady Amanda, Sister Chris and Betterwin. The order along the back was much the same, except that Wee Machine and Pedlar had changed places. Stormy Mack was first in line for the judge, followed by Mazda aiid Wee Machine, with Lady Amanda coming through nicely.' Over the final stages Wee Machine overhauled Stormy Mack and beat him home by a length, with Lady Amanda third, three lengths further away. Betterwin was fourth, followed by Pedlar and Mazda.
Never Headed. Another field with only one defection, First Flight, lined up when the : Remuera Handicap came up for deeisfon. The triple bracket, Brentlight, Real Girl and Peter Pirate, was made favourite with £744, the next in order being Little GUJr (£017), and Kewpie's Triumph ( £541). Brent Zolock carried £241. Brent Zolock was first away from Brentlight, Te Waliia and Real Girl. Passing tile stand the order was Brent Zolock, Brentlight, Te Wahia, Rdal Oirl, Kewpie's Triumph, Little Guy, Anon and Peter Pirate. Along the back Brent Zolock was still in the lead, being attended by Brentlight, Kewpie's Triumph, Te Wahia, Real Girl, Anon and Little GiiyL At the straight entrance Brent Zolofck had a break of ten lengths on the field, Brentlight, Kewpie's Triumph, Little Guy, Peter Pirate and Real Girl following in that ordef. The leader was never troubled, and WSn haiidily by three lengths front Peter Pirate, who beat Brentlight by tlirodqllttrters of a length. Kewpie's Triumph was fourth, and then came Little Guy, Real Girl, Anon, Pageant and Jseteoli Tasker.
Realty Makes GcoS. In the final event of the day, the lilsulation Handicap, the defections comprised Francis Lincoln aiul Jiirie JTordiea. The adjustment of the investment figures disclosed that Realty (£720) was the favdtirite frofri the bracket, Rbife Audulibtt arid Worthy GdUse ( and Homeward ( £431). Jersey Thorpe was the early leader from Nathaniel, Realty* Worthy Cause and Hbirieward. Passing the standi the order was Jersey Thorpe, Nathaniel, Realty, Homeward, Some Dillon, Lady Cbfonado and Pukemiro. Tht! order along the back was practically unchdnged; and when they hit the straight Jersey Thorpe was in charge ffom Hdineward, Realty, Nathaniel and Piikef mifo. In tlie final run Realty cilSle f&st oh the outside to get the verdict by a lerigth from Homeward, who beat Jersey Thorpe by half A length. Pukemiro was foul-til, followed by Worthy Cause, Lady Coronado, Holioraj Nathaniel and Rolfe Audubbn.
