OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM H. MAYES. One of the early settlers in Hamilton, Mr. William Henry Mayes, died on October 29, aged 73 years. Born in Melbourne, he arrived at Hamilton with his parents in 1864, his father, the late Mr. George Mayes, being a member of the 4th Waikato Militia. Mr. W. H. Mayes left Hamilton and for 40 years lived in Auckland before returning to the Waikato. He was never married MRS. JOSEPH FAULKNER. The death took place last week at. Te Puna of Mrs. Joseph Faulkner, at the great age of 97 years. She was a daughter of an early French settler in tne Bay of Plenty, her maiden name being Heni Potier. Her mother belonged to the Ngatiranginui tribe. The following are siembers of Mrs. Faulkner's family: Mrs. Potier Tangitu. Mrs. C. Bulois, Mrs. F. Borell, and Charles Faulkner (Te Puna), Mr. Fred Faulkner (Whakamarama), Mrs. Carlo Smith and Mrs. Heke (Bethlehem), Mrs. Tatau Ngatai and Mr. Joe Faulkner (Matapihi). There are 358 descendants.
