In the match Crawford versus McGrath the score reached o—4, 4—2, when Crawford retired hurt. He had strained a muscle in his back. This contest while it lasted was magnificent. The draw has been arranged for the New South Wales matches against the visiting American champions to begin on November 10. The New South Wales plavers will be Crawford, McGrath,'J. Willard and R. Dunlop. The games for the opening day are:— Singles: Willard versus Van Ryn, Dunlop versus Gledhill, McGrath versus Vines. Doubles: Crawford and Dunlop versus Allison and Van Ryn. A great deal of interest was manifested in these games, because Anderson had criticised both Crawford and McGrath, expressing the opinion that the boy should abandon the two-handed stroke, which has been mainly responsible for his great success, while of Crawford he says our champion has not one winning stroke.
