FAITH HEALING.
WAIKATO BISHOP CRITICAL.
HELP THROUGH CONFESSION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
HAMILTON, this day,
Strong criticism of faith healing •missions which have been attracting considerable attention in Auckland, and Hamilton was voiced by the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, speaking in St. Peter's Cathedral yesterday. Emphasising the value of sacramental confession, the Bishop said that most of the people concerned, •if they .made use of confession, would have no need for "that stupid emotionalism," which was doing -a great deal of harm to Christ's kingdom. .
Bishop Cherrington added that only those who knew what confession really was -could grasp what a. tremendous protection it was against the forces of evil. Confession was ■ compulsory in the Roman Catholic Church, but, contrary to the opinions held by many church people, it was quite permissible in the Church of England.
