TAUPO FISHING.
"NIGHT ANGLING IS POACHING." (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) - WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Delegates at tho Acclimatisation Societies' Conference to-day agreed that the type of fly which may bo used by anglers on the Tongariro River should bo more clearly defined, and that many flies With double and treble hooks should not be allowed.
The conference recommended that the hours for night fishing on Lake Taupo should be further restricted. Delegates expressed tho view that night fishing amounted to poaching. Something would have to be clone to keep the fishing up to. standard.'
It was agreed to recommend that power-driven boats be prohibited on the .Tongariro River. Mr. J. H. Duigan said that fishing was spoiled for anglers for hours after a motor boat had passed. Mr. F. E. McKenzie (Auckland): If you put any moro restrictions on fishermen you will drive them to golf.
