Jolly, representing Lancashire interests, will arrive next week with machinery to establish a cotton spinning mill in Sydney. Queensland raw cotton will be used. SHEARING RATES. The Industrial Court reduced the Queensland shearing rate from 30/ to 33/15 per 100, but conditions were left unchanged. , TREASURY BILLS. SAVING IN LONDON RENEWAL. (Received 9.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. Mr. J. A. Lyons has announced the renewal of £4,250,000 worth of Treasury bills in London at 3J jfer cent. The previous rate was 4J. SURPLUS SHOWN. TASMANIA'S FINANCE. • \ . (Received 9.30 a.m.) HOBART, 'this day. The State finance shows a surplus for the first three months of the current year of £11,765. CABINET VACANCIES. COUNTRY PARTY'S CHANCE ? CANBERRA, October 7. Unofficial negotiations are proceeding with the Country party concerning the two vacancies in the Federal Cabinet due to the resignations of Mr. C. A. S. Hawker and Mr. J. H. Fenton. It is understood that there is an increased possibility that the Country party will be represented in the Ministry. An announcement is expected to be made after the week-end.
