SCREEN PERSONALITIES.
Mr. Frank Ansell celebrates tliis month the first anniversary of his arrival in the "Queen City" to take over the managership of the Regent Theatre, after a typical publicity man's career, having distributed and exhibited films in most of the cities of the Dominion. Born in the good Scots city of Dunedin, Mr. Ansell was educated in Wellington, received his showman's training in Christehureh, and has now settled in Auckland—which ho declares is far and away the best little burg in all New Zealand. He likes our beaches, our tennis courts and golf links, also our liarbour reaclics for launching—for he is a true
sportsman, 110 likes our friendly people and their evident appreciation of the good and bad in films. The training that prepared him for liis present post involved some of tlie most diflicult in all the film business. Publicity agent in turn for Paramount, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and J. C. Williamson (N.Z.), Ltd., he had cause to travel the length and breadth of tlio Dominion, releasing such memorable successes as "Madame X" and
"The Broadway Melody." He regards his greatest Auckland successes in the line of exploiting and publicity to be the George Arliss series of films.
