HAPPINESS.

BE YOURSELF.

ITS POWER OVER HEALTH.

There's no getting away from it— , health plus happiness equals beauty—l don't care whether you're tall or short, or whether your nose turns up or down (says a -writer in the "Daily Mail"). All the beauty preparations, treatments, strenuous Blimming exercises, and rigid dieting on earth won't help you if your spirits are low and your heart aches! Be yourself! It's an Americanism, but a good one! Your husband married you because of it, and all the friends you have wete made on the strength of it. So keep on being that particular "you"! A Human Failing. It's a human failing to imitate, and although a change or adoption of new ideas is good, the danger lies in pursuing the wrong thing, thereby losing rather than increasing that indefinable thing called "personality." Chic is, after all, a matter of individuality—not conformity. Of course, you must be slender! But if you're healthy, it needn't be a painful nor expensive process. Find out what's fattening and leave the tabooed things alone! And—most important—walk to your destinations, whatever the weather; leave a little earlier, but manage a mile or two a day. "But I get so hungry if I walk much!" you cry. Eat An Apple. Well, buy some apples! Take one whenever you feel inclined, but particularly take one just before a meal. There's nothing like an apple for counteracting what looks like developing into a serious appetite !i .They're marvellous for the system, too! If you master your will power and organise your desires, you'll always be slim. Out of your store of knowledge choose a few physical jerks — the ones that jerk you in the special spots that weigh upon your mind! Do them, every day. This does not mean you must be ever active. Restless, energetic women are very wearisome! And—on the subject of husbands— retain the peculiarities of your youth! If he once said in the early days, "I love the way your face lights up when you see me," keep on "lighting up." , So Bored. So many wives greet their husbands , grimly, and hasten to tell their mates that the babys swallowed a pin, or that the bathroom plug won't work, ; before he so much as puts his foot in the house. Never do this; feed him first, and < only tell him the bad news when the ; telling helps. i

Many women owe their fading looks entirely to boredom! This common evil brings the muscles of the face' sagging right down, slows up the circulation, and is generally accompanied by its big sister, "the blues." Don't .give in to it. Fight it. Go and do something exciting when you think you're going to get it; buy a new hat, some good-looking shoes, or, better still, have a face massage.

The soothing goodness of this gentle art reacts on the spirits as well as on the face! These treatments are quite inexpensive, and there's a host of skilled experts in every town. There are so many things not to do to retain one's youth, and only a few simple things to do; in fact, a safe ABC for "being yourself" might be just this: Be affectionate, bright and congenial.
