' I wish our .English statesmen "would have the courage to raise the voting age, for we are. at present ruled by politicians thinking of nothing but how to catch the votes of boys and girls who had better be playing Yo-Yo than crowding into the pollingTbooths.—Mr. A. The August number of "Art in Australia" contains colour plates of work by Will Ashton, Sydney Ure Smith, Hans Heyeen, G. W. Lambert, Margaret Preston and Blamire Young, and several black and white reproductions. It is a number of mixed content. Among the articles are: "The Future of the 'Real Theatre' in Australia," by Gabriel Toyne; "Wii'l Ashton's Recent Paintings," by Lionel Lindsay; and a particularly interesting account of the career of the young New Zealand artist and sculptor Frank Weitzell, who died this year in England after receiving praise from' eminent, critics. In his editorial notes Mr. Sydney Ure Smith makes some comment upon the attitude of government in Sydney towards art and artists that has an application, to our own country.
