STOLE BOTTLES OF STOUT.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Friday.

Edward James Leo Cleary, formerly railway stationmaster at Allanton, was to-day sentenced to one month's imprisonment for the theft of 20 bottles of stout, the property of the Government. The police stated that the stout was consigned from Dunedin to Owaka and placed in a guard's van. After the train had left Milton the guard noticed that a package was missing. Accused, who was on leave, travelled part of the way in the guard's van. Search was made at accused's house, and three of the missing bottles were i found. Accused was fond of drink.
