OLD BASIS OF PAY.

WAIPUKURAU RESOLUTION.

(By Telegraph.—rress Association.)

WAIPUKURAU, this day.

The Waipukurau Chamber of Commerce unanimously carried the following resolution at its annual meeting last night: "This chamber uses the Government and the Unemployment Board to give immediate consideration to the call for reverting to the old basis of 12/0 and 9/ a day respectively for country unemployed . workers with three relief weeks monthly, this heing more satisfactory and economical than the new scheme which ostensibly provides the same aggregate total pay but spread over a longer period at lower rates, the time saved under the old scheme being valuable to the worker on hi>3 vegetable plot or for securing other employment. The chamber further holds that so long as the new scheme operates the same aggregate pay as given city unemployed should be available for country workers."
