OPENING DAY TO-MORROW. AMMON RA IN STAKES. MELBOURNE, October 0. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's spring meeting opens at Caulfield on Saturday. Following are the acceptors for the chief event:— Caulfield Guineas, of 2000sovs. three-year-olds, colts 8.5, geldings 8.2, fillies 8.0 ; one mile.—Sanballat, Top Hole, Jimmie Boy, Liberal, Prince Leo, Vauntr.v, Arrathe, Kuvera, Dibon, 8.5 ; Bronze Hawk, Dutchie, Chetowaik, 8.2; Protea, 8.0. New Zealand acceptors for the following events are:— Caulfield Stakes of lOOOsovs, weijrht-for-age, one mile one furlong.—Amnion Ra and Lady Pam. Debutante Stakes of lOOOsovs, two-year-olds, half a mile.-—Metro and Dilly. Herbert Power Handicap of uOOsovs, one mile three furlongs.—Lady Pam and Aetaeon. Toorak Handicap of lOOOsovs, eight and a half furlongs.—Debenture and Rulanut. Latest scratchings are:—Caulfield Cup: Dark Man, Oro, Stately and Strength. Melbourne Cup: Dark Man. DEATH OF JEYPORE. SYDNEY, October 0. The well-known racehorse Jeypore, a good performer, died to-day as the result of a twisted bowel. He played a prominent part in lcading the field for a considerable distance in the Metropolitan Handicap on Monday. NIGHTMARCH INJURES EYE. SYDNEY, October 6. Nightmarch's indifferent display at Randwick yesterday is accounted for by the condition of one eye, which is considerably swollen through being hit by a flying clod.
