HIGH COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE.

LONDON, October 5.

In a statement confirming Mr. Forbes' announcement of defalcations in the High. Commissioner's office, Mr. Downiu Stewart says it concerns the office cash, account. The amount ie comparatively small. Both the officers concerned have been suspended.

It is understood that legal action is likely to be taken in two or three days. The affair has made a painful sensation in the New Zealand office.'

Mr. Forbes' announcement is featured in the evening newspapers, also on their contents bills.
