WHAT IS AN EXPLOSIVE?
PECULIAR CASE IN FIJI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, September 28. A peculiar case concerning explosives cropped up at the Suva Police Court this .week, when a European was charged with having in his possession an explosive, namely, oil of monbane. Tho defending counsel held that It was not an explosive, as it had first to be joined to chlorate of potash. Separately there could be no explosion. The magistrate said tho matter was of considerable importance to tho colony, and held that the articles were explosives under the ordinance. Evidence was given to show that both substances could be purchased by anyone openly in any chemist's shop.
