Mr. Stronach Paterson has been appointed Consul in Wellington for Denmark. Mr. J. C. Sidebottom will leave by the Aorangi this evening for Sydney on 'his way to England. Mr. J. H. Bell, secretary of the Kailways Board, was a passenger by the Limited this morning. Sir Edwin Mitcheteon and Lady Mitchelson leave for the South by the Limited this evening. Mr. P. G. Roussell, general manager of New Zealand Railways, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. v Major and Sirs. H. Jellicorse, of Chichester, England, who arrived by the Aorangi yesterday on a short holiday visit, are at tlio Grand Hotel. Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Railways Board, Mr. D. Reese and Mr. E. Newman, members, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. A. B. Malyon, of Wellington, returned by the Aorangi from England yesterday. He attended a conference in England of the Toe H movement. Captain W. L. Jackson, D.5.0., R.N., arrived in Au-ckland by the Limited express this morning. He will relieve Commander W. J. Morgan, of H.M-s. Veronica. The Count de Baillet Latour, president of the Olympic Games Committee, who has been 011 a short visit to New Zealand, leaves by the Aorangi for Sydney this evening. Mr. J. S. L. Stewart, of the Government Life Insurance Department, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. He leaves again to-morrow night. Dr. and Mrs. Carew arrived from Suva by the Aorangi yesterday and have taken up their residence in Auckland. Dr. Carew was in the Government Medical Service at Fiji. The Rev. D. C. Herron, formerly of St. David's Church, Auckland, and now of Knox Church, Dunedin, has been elected a member of the council of tho University ofi Otago. Mr. J. S. Jessep, deputy-chairman of the Unemployment Board, who left on Friday evening for the East Coast earthquake area, is expected to return to Auckland early this week.
Mr. W. A. Gentle, retired chief accountant for the Ceylon Government Railways, with Mrs. Gentle, arrived in Auckland 'by the Aorangi yesterday. They are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. H. B. Legge, South Island manager for Collins Bros, and Company, Ltd., has resigned after 40 years' service with the fii-m. He and his wife are spending a holiday with their daughter, Mrs. M. A. Brook, of Coromandel. Messrs. W. W. Massey, W. J. Jordan, M. J. Savage, W. F. Schramm, A. J. Stallwortihy, A. M. Samuel and A. Richards, members of Parliament, returned to Wellington this morning after spending the week-end in Auckland. Mr. R. C. Blunt, the New Zealand cricketer who has accepted a business engagement in England and who is to play in county cricket, will leave Wellington for Napier to-morrow to embark Port Huon for England. Mr. W. A. lorns, chairman of the Dairy Produce Board, arrived from the South on Saturday and met Mr. W. Goodfellow, who represented New Zealand dairying interests at the Ottawa. Conference. He is at Hotel Cargen. Colonel J. E. Duigan, officer commanding the Northern Command, who has recovered from his recent operation, left for Wellington, by H.M.S. Diomede this .morning to consult with BrigadierGeneral W. L. H. Sinclair-ißurgess and the commanding officers of the Central and Southern Commands. Major C. M. Barclay-Harvey, M.P. for Kincardine and West Aberdeenshire in the British House of Commons, with Mrs. Barclay-Harvey and their daughter, arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday. Tihey will tour the Dominion for a .month. At present they are at the Grand Hotel.
