SCRIPTURE EXAMINATIONS.

SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION'S PRIZES. The presentation of 449 prizes to the successful candidates in the recent scriptural examinations conducted by the Sunday School Union attracted a large number of people to the Town Hall on Saturday evening, on the occasion of the annual rally of the union. The gathering was presided over by Mr. W. H. Newton, president of the union, and the Rev. L. B. Busfield, general secretary, was also present. The shields for highest percentages of marks gained by the schools were presented as follows:—Grade A, Mount Albert Baptist; grade B, Trinity Methodist, Wanganui; grade C, Karaka Interdenominational; grade D, Wakapara Presbyterian. A fine programme was presented by the children, choral items, action songs and dramatised Bible stories being given. Two unusual items were hand-bell ringing by children from the Manurewa Home and brass rod drill by girls from the Grange Orphanage. "A Christmas Message," representing in a . simple yet dramatic manner the scene on the first Christmas morning, was cleverly enacted by children from St. John's Methodist Church, while "The Fisher Lad of Galilee" was another tableau, excellently carried out by Mrs. Adair and Lincoln Adair. The choral singing, under Professor C. Moor, was particularly fine.
