MR. JOHN SINCLAIR.

An old resident of North Otago, Mr. John Sinclair, died this week, aged 98 years. Born on the Island of Islay, Scotland, Mr. Sinclair arrived at Port Chalmers in 1860. He worked as a shepherd at Hillend, where he later secured a farm. Afterwards Mr. Sinclair fanned at Owaka, Balclutha and Glenomaru, and in 1903 went to Totara. He is survived by his widow. The family was nine sons and seven daughters, of whom 13 survive. There are 157 grandchildren.
