NORTHCOTE FUNCTION.

On Saturday afternoon the committee and members of the Northcote branch of the Plunket Society entertained its treasurer, Mrs. G. D. O'Leary, at a farewell social, prior to her departure to reside a,t Stratjford. The Returned Soldiers' clubrooin was tastefully decorated with spring blooms. Items. were given by Mesdames Noel Campbell, Keith Harrison, M. Neilsen, Miss Lyn Court and Mrs. J. E. Mays. Mrs. Barrington Snow was the accompanist. The president, Mrs. Arch Campbell, welcomed Mesdames D. P. O'Leary, L. S. Righton and Miss Ellen Melville. Mesdames J. E. Allan, A. J. Beck and Miss J. R. Campbell represented Auckland headquarters, Mesdames N. J. Campbell, Mervyn Campbell, K. Harrison and Miss L. Court represented the Birkenhead district, together with Mesdames M. Neilsen (Mount Eden), and A. Bosworth (Devonport), who were the first secretary and treasurer of the . Northcote committee. Mrs. G. D. O'Leary, she said, carried with her the sincere respect and esteem of a very large circle of friends. On behalf of the Plunket branch, the patroness, Mrs. A. E. Greenslade, presented Mrs. O'Leary with a silver sweet dish, suitably inscribed. The Mayoress, Mrs. R. Martin, also presented Mrs. O'Leary with a crystal sweet dish. Mesdames Allan and Beck paid a tribute to the good work of Mrs. O'Leary. Among others present -were: Mesdames W. E. Carter, J. E. Mays, F. Townshend, J. W. Lethbridge, A. W. Christmas, W. P. Hay, C. H. Colegrave, E. A. Campbell, A. Stilwell, D. H. Opperman, E. J. Mullon, P. J. Hawke, W. F. Ward, L. G. Gimblett, R. Cadness, B. Snow, M. S. James, F. Williams, A. J. Grant, A; Watson, J. A. Adams, Nurse Morrison, Misses H. Adams, L. Tremain and J. Stewart.
