BOYS' EMPLOYMENT APPEAL. WEEK'S CAMPAIGN ENDS. A sum of £1000 is the result of last i week's campaign to raise £5000 to help the fuiids "of the Auckland Boys' Employment Committee. The campaign ended on Saturday evening, Svhen a gala was held at Carlaw Park. On Saturday a house-to-house appeal was made throughout the city ancl the suburbs, and the £1000 is still being augmented by donations arriving subsequent to "the closing of the week. Numerous voluntary workers helped in the canvass of the city. Carlaw Park presented a gay scene, in the evening. The main attraction was a display, but much interest centred round a demonstration given by the Central fire brigade undelete leadership of the superintendent, Mr. W. L.. Wilson. ■ Music was played by the Auckland Girls' Brass Band. There was amateur wrestling, and the Greek professional H. Mamos gave an exhibition of holds.
