"CALLER" AT POLICE STATION OBSCENE LANGUAGE CHARGES. "This man served his apprenticeship at the Borstal," said Detective Sergeant Kelly, in the Police Court to-day when Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., asked what was known about Leslie Allan, aged 20, labourer, convicted and fined £1, or three days' imprisonment for using obscene language. Allan pleaded not guilty. Senior Sergeant Flanagan said accuscd entered the watchhouse at the central police station about 7 p.m. on Saturday, just after a Maori had been arrested for drunkenness and obscene language. When asked what he wanted, Allan told witness he considered the Maori had not been fairly treated. "I requested Allan to leave, but he at first refused," added Mr. Flanagan, "so I told him I would keep him there if he remained. When he walked out he made use of obscene language to me, so I locked him up." Maori's Obscene Language. Charged with drunkenness in Gittos Street, Parnell, on Saturday, and using obscene language, a Maori, John Waikato, aged 22, labourer, also appeared in the Police Court. Detective Sergeant Kelly said Waikato went to the Maori Hostel in an intoxicated condition, and when spoken to by the custodian he made iise of the obscene language. Waikato was fined £1, or three days' imprisonment.
