CARTING WATER.
DRY SPELL IN SOUTHLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)' INVERCARGELL, Friday. After six weeks of almost uninterrupted sunshine, Southland is beginning to feel the effects of the dry spell, some country residents being faced with a shortage of water. During the past few days the cartage of water has been undertaken by City Council employees to about 20 residents who live outside the Invercargill boundary. Household tanks in many instances are at a very low level. Only lin of rain was recorded herefor September.
