£5000 "DRIVE" ENDS.
CARLAW PARK GALA TO-MTGHT. COLLECTION THIS MORNING. The Auckland Boys'. Employment Committee's "drive" for £5000 finds today with a gala night at Carlaw Park, commencing at 7.30. There will be fireworks displays of a highly spectacular nature, fire brigade exhibitions, amateur wrestling bouts by well known Auckland amateurs, an exhibition of holds by the Greek professional wrestler, Harry jtfamos, and musical items by the Auckland Girls' Brass Band. The fireworks attraction has been planned on a large scale, and rockets and aerial shells will be a particular feature. These will be supplemented by rainbow wheels, -revolving fountains and a golden cascade representing a waterfall on fire. Batteries of Roman candlee and a flight of sparkling tourbillions will also add considerably to the effect. An officc-to-office and house-to-house canvass was conducted, throughout the city and suburbs between the hours of S a.m. and 1 p.m. to-day. More than 1000 persons,-principally members of the Inter-House Girls' Association and the Boy Scouts' Association, took part. The area over whicli the collection waa taken was divided.into 100 zones. The amount collected from various sources up to yesterday was £1300;
