HINT TO INDIANS.
CRUSH TERRORISTS. Bengal Government Issues Firm Warning. TALK OF COMMUNITY TINE. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12 noon.) CALCUTTA, September 30. The determination of the Bengal Government to fight terrorism, particularly in Chittagong, is illustrated by an official statement issued to-day. In this a section of the inhabitants of Chittagong known to be in sympathy with the terrorists are warned that unless, before October 15, they produce sufficient evidence to lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators of last Saturday's outrage a heavy collective fine will be immediately imposed. The Government is satisfied that it was impossible for the raid on the social gathering of the Railway Institute to have been made without the knowledge of many residents. Prominent Moslem members of the Central Legislature, including Bengalis, have issued a statement assuring the Government of their unqualified support of measures for crushing the activities of Bengali and Hindu anarchists. The victims of the Calcutta crime on Wednesday evening are progressing. Sir Alfred Watson has two bullets still in his body. The missing assailant has been captured. The facilities which were accorded Gandhi when he began to correspond with and interview the Hindu leaders with a view to reaching a settlement of the communal questions which affected the depressed classes, have now been withdrawn, and Gandhi's position reverts to that of a State prisoner until the civil disobedience campaign is called off. The Government can be no party to negotiations with leaders on the general political situation. —————
