AUCKLAND CLUB.

Due to bad weather and the lack of interest due. to all championship races being over, only a small field of nine faced the, starter in the laet race of the club's road season. The race was for two tine medals presented by the club's popular handicapper, Mr. Is. Sfcidford, one of them was for first place, and the other for fastest time. In securing first place W. Craig, who only joined the club at the close of the season, rode a hard, fast race to drop his co-marker, C. May, and win easily. Craig impresses as one who will go far in the sport. He ie a tall, well built rider, and his method of pedalling is easy. C. May put in his best effort of the season last week, when he finished second. So far he has been unlucky this season, and has not rode up to his standard of last year. However, last Saturday he rode a really fine race to finish second. For a firet-seaeon rider Bob Strothdel has certainly proved himself to be a wheelman of the finest grade. With numerous places to hie credit, one win and a second in the club's 50-mile championship, it was no surprise to see him finish third last Saturday, with the third best time, 77.7. Bob looke as if he would make a good track rider. For the third time in succession G. Patrick has registered fastest time, and in doing so last week he defeated Ivan Laloli for the second time, a performance that many Auckland riders have despaired of doing, for Ivan is perhaps the best road rider Auckland has seen this season. Gordon Patrick is, without doubt, a most improved rider. He finished second to W. Crocker in .the points cup. He will be one of the club's best hopes in the centre's 50-miler next week. Ivan C. Laloli has not been riding up to his form of a month ago, for lately he has failed to register fastest time. He is, however, still a fine rider, and with the long race of next Saturday in view he should no doubt be riding up to his old standard. The club's general monthly meeting took place last Sunday, and several important decisions were reached. The club has decided to wind up the season with dinner on Thursday week. The club is also challenging the Manukau Club to a Rugby match at Lynndale on either October 15 or Iβ. With the road season almost at an end, the track season looms ahead. The ■track season will be again opened with the Labour Day sports at the Domain. The Labour Day Sports Committee have handed over entire control of the athletic and cycling sportg to the Auckland Club, which will put on a really fine programme while the eporte committee are ensuring that an immense crowd will be present by free admission to all, and free toys to the children. Needless to eay, all cycliste of the Auckland Club will be competing, and some fine contests should bo expected.
