MANUREWA RELIEF MEN.
A meeting of the Manurewa-Maimikau Relief Workers' Association was held on Thursday night. Mr. A. Turner presided. A motion was passed that a letter be forwarded to the Minister of Employment strongly protesting that the metropolitan sffliemc, as worked in the city areas,, has not been extended to the associations district, and asking him during the present session to bring up the question or the Government providing sufficient work to enable relief workers to provide full sustenance for their wives and families. The local Welfare League intimated that it had granted a subsidy on clothing nn« manure, and it was decided -to write thanking them for what members considered: a most generous subsidy. Rents were : discussed at some length, and in view of the hardships on members on account of t itstand down week, it was decided that tiic various landlords be asked to forego their rent on the off week.
