EMBARGO ON FRUIT.
BQMINION AND AtTSTRAUA. REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the conference of the Fruitgrowers , federation to-day, Mr. H. Nottage (Nelson) proposed a remit that the federation should make representations to the Government to take such steps as w Pnld bring about a discontinuance of we ruinous competition from Australia. There was a further remit from Teviot jh&t the Government should review trading conditions between Australia *id the Dominion, so as to prevent the dumping of fresh"and canned fruits. The remits were taken together. The conference passed the following resolution: "That the Government be Wfced to take immediate steps to have we embargo against the importation of *w Zealand fruit into Australia removed, failing which steps be taken to regulate and restrict the importation of horticultural products from Australia. Also, that it be an instruction to the federation to arrange for a deputation J 0 wait upon the Government in regard to the matter."
