CHANGED HIS MIND. TATE WANTS TO GO. LONDON, September 21. The Tate situation is becoming a comedy. After having previously notified them of his inability to go to Australia, Tate telephoned to the Marylebone Cricket Club this morning saying he felt much better and was anxious to join the team. The secretary of the club advised Tate that he would telephone him later in the week. It is now stated that there is a possibility of Tate going to Australia by a later boat. His principal trouble is that he has lost weight. The question of Tate's inclusion in the team in Australia has been deferred until the selectors' next meeting. TENNIS IN U.S.A. CALIFORNIAN TOURNEY. LOS ANGELES, September 20. In the second round of the singles at the Pacific south-west tennis championship to-day Hugh McArthur (San Diego) defeated Manuel Alonzo, 9—7, 2—6, 6—4, and Gene Mako (California) defeated Avory (Britain), 6—l, B—6. In the second round of the doubles Perry and Austin (Britain) defeated Myers and West-Smith, 6—2, 6-4. In the second round of the mixed doubles Elbert Lewis and Elizabeth Deike (California) defeated Austin and Miss Babcock, o—6, 6—3, 12—10; Perry and Sarah Palfrey (Boston) defeated William Caughlan and Alice Marvle (San Francisco), 6 —o, 6—3. Vines defeated Oliff (England), 9—ll, 6—l, 6—3. LEVIN AERO PAGEANT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LEVIN, Wednesday. The first pageant of the Levin Aero Club, held to-day, was attended by 1500 people. Nine aeroplanes and numerous pilots from the Wellington, Manawatu and Wairarapa Clubs participated. The weather was brilliantly fine. Following were the results: —
