The quality again was first-class. Competition was less keen and values for all classes recetled, heavy cattle suffering most. Lxtia choice ox sold to 23/ per 1001b; choice an prime ox, 20/ to 22/; secondary and plain ox 16/ to 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18/ to 20/; ordinary, cow beef, 13/ to 17/. . Ltd., report:—To-day, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, ox beef was penned in average numbers. The quality was again first class, but the demand was hardly as keen, and. values eased. Heavy cattle were penned in more than usual numbers, reflecting the drop in prices most. Cow and heifer beef came forward in larger numbers than last week, and found a ready sale at slightly lower prices. Extra choice ox sold to 23/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 20/ to 22/; just killable, 17/ to 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 19/ to 21/; just killable, 14/ to 18/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £7 12/6 to £8 2/6; lighter, £7 to £7 10/; light, £6 to £6 17/6; unfinished and small, £3 10/ to £5 17/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £6 10/ to £7 7/6; heavy, £5 12/6 to £6 7/6; lighter, £4 10/ to £5 10/; other killi able cows, £1 15/ to £4 7/6.
